Abstract

Main aspects faced in the operational management of underground utilities are presented in terms of compliance to bureaucracy and legislation as well as in terms of interventions' planning activity and available technologies

Participants will gain an overall understanding of pipe line rehabilitation methodologies and processes, of the authorizations needed to intervene on the underground infrastructures and of the main aspects to take into consideration into road works.

Structure
The module is articulated into the following components:

  • COMPONENT 1 - Underground assets maintenance: rehabilitation methodologies:
    • The problem of pipelines deterioration (deterioration of materials or mechanical stress);
    • Cleaning procedures of water mains;
    • Welding technology;
    • Slip lining, pipe bursting/splitting, Pre-deformed PE pipes, Hose lining, CIP and other rehabilitation methodologies;
    • CML (cement mortar lining) and epoxy/chemical lining systems;
    • Convenience of trench-less methodologies;
    • International Standards.

  • COMPONENT 2 - Process analysis and bottlenecks identification:
    • Traffic of vehicles;
    • Geological and geotechnical conditions;
    • State of the infrastructure;
    • Boundary conditions.

  • COMPONENT 3 - Underground assets legislation framework- the Genova case:
    • New regulations about breaking up public land;
    • Application Software;
    • Cadastre representative networks of underground CRRS;
    • Underground Cadastre;
    • Monic@ projectv.
Learning outcomes

When completing this module, the participants will gain an overall understanding of processes, activities and authorizations needed to intervene on the underground infrastructures.

This seminar aims at managers, professionals as well as stakeholders interested in the Underground assets management field.

Pre-requisites

No specific prerequisites, but basic knowledge about the function of the web is recommended.
